The Power of Meal Planning

How many times have I come home, not known what to eat, looked in the fridge and just seen chicken nuggets, pizza, or not even that and succumbed tot are out, even though I don’t want it.

I tried meal planning weekly, however it was too much of a faff to think of meals every week. However I did find I ate better when I did and also saved money

My friend told me she and her wife do a monthly food plan, so they have a different meal each day of the month, and by the time the next month comes round, they’re not bored of it. This meant it was something I could stick to, and I could do my weekly Waitrose shop easily without having to plan and get sign off on the weekly meals. I have my smoothie in the morning, my tomato, chicken, cucumber, lettuce and sourdough at lunch, my fruit and snack-a-jacks to snack on and a yummy dinner. Reducing choice from your life, helps you be more disciplined in losing weight and way less food waste as I’ve got it all in the food shop, knowing exactly what I will eat.

I snack less on ‘naughty’ things, I know where my five-a-day are coming from, I know when I can snack and what it will be, I know my meals are realistic, with recipes I know I’ll actually be able to make, I know what I’m eating is healthy and I look forward to every meal - bonus, so does my fiancé, and mainly I don’t have the dreaded question to myself or from others ‘What’s for dinner tonight?’!

Meal planning has been a great way to save time, money and stress. If you’re looking for a way to improve your health and wellbeing, meal planning is a great place to start.
